J.D. Edwards' Vice President Gayle Sheppard Addresses Hosting Options For Supply Chain Solutions at ERP World West
ANAHEIM, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Gayle Sheppard, vice president of JDe.sourcing for J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC - news), a leading supplier of business software solutions that deliver speed and agility, delivered key strategies for hosting critical supply chain system solutions during a speech at ERP World West in Anaheim, California on February 29, 2000.
Sheppard discussed the growing importance of implementing Internet-ready supply chain software solutions to deliver real-time collaborative capabilities to today's competitive enterprises. She further explored the benefits of using hosted solutions for these key business solutions for added efficiency and reliability, an option that has grown increasingly popular over the past year.
Sheppard's presentation, titled ``Sourcing the Supply Chain,'' outlined the key elements of an Internet-designed supply chain, and the benefits that many companies obtain through outsourcing the management of these critical applications. Highlights included:
- Internet-designed supply chain solutions boost sales, improve asset management, and cut operating costs to deliver a measurable competitive advantage in the information economy.
- Supply chain solutions offer the added benefits of streamlining inventory levels, and increasing productivity and customer service.
- Putting the collaborative power of the Internet behind supply chain software enables trading communities to simplify complex lines of
communication for automated, real-time, seamlessly integrated information sharing.
- Market drivers including globalization, heightened customer expectations, and the need for competitive organizations to focus on core competencies are resulting in the proliferation of trading communities and private exchanges. Leveraging supply chain technology, especially via a hosting partner, makes this possible.
- Hosting offers customers reliable integration of internal enterprise functions with external transaction support, a complex undertaking that might otherwise be cost-prohibitive. Reduced costs and risk, faster time to market, and the ability to refocus on core business issues make the hosting option the most appropriate for a wide range of organizations.
"The fully collaborative supply chain solutions that we are now hosting for our customers offer a new level of efficiency and reliability in executing business transactions," Sheppard said. "These solutions are driving wealth creation in the digital marketplace with unprecedented operational competence and collaborative capabilities. Information assets are now able to be leveraged for maximum competitive advantage."
